The School Day
The school day is divided in half: a morning session from 9:00 to 11:45 AM and an afternoon session from 12:45 to 3:25 PM. Each class spends one of these sessions studying the standard subjects in French, then moves for the second session to an adjacent classroom for study of similar or related material in English. Only French is spoken in the French classroom, where the teacher is a fluent, probably native, Francophone. Only English is spoken in the English classroom, where the teacher is a fluent, probably native Anglophone. In this way, the school’s goal of developing a full command, both oral and written, of both languages is achieved.
Nearly all students bring their lunches and remain at the school during the supervised lunch hour, from 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM. Milk is provided for a nominal charge.
Kindergarten programs at both junior and senior levels are available on either a half-day or a full-day basis, with the same format of alternating French and English classrooms.
